Members of the community are invited to attend a community engagement event to celebrate the new name and participate in listening sessions to share their thoughts, ideas, and feedback about the McCollum Hall project.

This community engagement event is perfect for hearing from the community and getting thoughts on this vital project. Our goal is for Thirty8 Collective to be something the Dunbar community and the City of Fort Myers is proud of.

McCollum Hall

Constructed in 1938 by Clifford McCollum, Sr., McCollum Hall was a commercial center in the Dunbar Community. The building is known for its dance hall with a stage that hosted famous musicians such as Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong, and others. It was a centerpiece of commerce, music, and entertainment and one of the few places Blacks and Whites went for entertainment during segregation.

Today, developers Alexander Goshen + Cornerstone Strategic Partners are planning on bringing life back into the building. Paying homage to the year McCollum Hall was built, the new Thirty8 Collective will be a mixed-use food hall accompanied by a residential space named Thirty8 Flats. To honor the history of McCollum Hall, the name will be memorialized within the building.

Plans include developing a 26-unit multi-family residential building and a 14,200 square feet food and market hall for the City of Fort Myers to enjoy. With multiple failed attempts by other developers to restore the area, Alexander Goshen + Cornerstone Strategic Partners, LLC,  are confident they can bring the complex back to its former glory. Additionally, their goal is to establish Thirty8 Collective to be an integral part of the community.
